FROM THE VAULTS

There are a few of our blog articles that people keep returning to time and time again. One of those is “Why Figuring Out What You Hate Is the Secret to Having a Home You Love” by our very own Shawn Graves.

This post gets at the heart of much of what our interior design philosophy is about. That’s why I’m bringing it back for those of you who are new to our blog.

Shawn says it a lot better than I do, so let’s let him take over from here.

ICELAND: THE NEWEST HOT SPOT

On a blog about high end Miami interior design, it may seem funny to talk about someplace like Iceland. But that’s exactly what I’m about to do.

Why?

Because like Miami, Iceland is a place full of natural beauty, albeit of an entirely different kind. And like Miami, the economic collapse of 2007-08 took down the Icelandic high end interior design and real estate markets hard.

The good news is that, like Miami, this small MidAtlantic nation is rebounding in a big way. In part, it’s because of their recent tourism push..a campaign designed to let the world know what a hidden gem this country is. As such, we’re seeing an upsurge of beautiful, high end construction and interior design.

If you haven’t been to Iceland, I strongly suggest you jump on a plane as soon as possible and head there.

In the meantime, take a look at these beautiful examples of Icelandic real estate and design.

HIGH END INTERIOR DESIGN BOOM GOES GLOBAL

From the way we focus on Miami interior design and real estate, some of you might get the impression that it’s the only place undergoing a serious boom right now. While we are extremely proud of our South Florida hometown, the something exciting in the air is, in fact, happening worldwide.

For example, there’s been word lately of a high end interior design boom in Saudi Arabia. According to the Council of Saudi Chambers, the size of the Saudi construction market is expected to reach $300 billion by 2015, with $110 billion in high end luxury contracts being offered this year alone. With this boom comes vastly increased demand for high end interior designers and decoration services.

With all the chaos in the news lately, it’s nice to hear that in many ways we are still growing closer together rather than farther apart.

MIAMI INTERIOR DESIGN SEES EXCITING TIMES

More awesome architectural masterpieces are slated to fill up the rapidly expanding Miami landscape. The high end architects and interior designers at Berenblum Busch Architecture are taking on a handful of new luxury homes.

We love to bring attention to our fellow talented whenever it’s warranted, so check it out!

THE HIDDEN CAUSE OF THE MIAMI REAL ESTATE BOOM

It comes up time and time again. Every time we talk to the Power Player of Miami in our new Design TV with Steven G. miniseries, we hear consistent two themes. One, that Miami is the city of today and the future. Two, it’s the partnership between luxury real estate brokers and high end interior designers and decorators are giving the boom legs.

Don’t take our word for it….Listen to Power Broker John Warsing.

MIAMI INTERIOR DESIGNERS OF THE FUTURE

Nelson Figuero – Up and Coming Interior Design Student

  • Nothing makes me more excited than encountering talented young people who are studying interior design or interior decoration. Whenever I can, I try to mentor up and coming interior design students, here in Miami and wherever else I can. So you can imagine how impressed I was by Nelson Figuero, the 26 year old who won the first lighting design competition sponsored by South Florida’s Farrey’s Lighting & Bath. A Honduran immigrant, this Miami designer poured his heart and soul into the project, taking his inspiration from an…iceberg.

Congratulations Nelson…we expect big things from you!

Sasha Bikoff – A New High End Design Talent to Keep an Eye On

  • Whenever I come across remarkably high quality interior design, I like to share it with everyone I know. And for those of you who have been reading for a while, you know that my philosophy on the best high end interior designers is that they are able to draw out what’s in someone’s heart and soul and turn it into the perfect environment for them. That’s what high end interior designer Sasha Bikoff recently did for her client, an Iranian ballet star. This 25-year old talent used color, pop culture reference, and furniture choices to reflect the energy and creativity of the artist she worked for. That’s why she’s going to be a high end interior design talent to keep an eye on!

Isabelle Peribere  – Another Talented Designer Hits the Miami Scene

  • After you’ve been somewhere like Miami for 30 years, it’s exciting to see everyone else discovering it. That’s one of the reasons I loved finding out about the work of Isabelle Peribere, the former executive who is now trying her hand at high end interior design. Her new interior design firm does most of its work in Miami and New York. One of her more recent high profile jobs is a collaboration with renowned architect Max Strang on a modernist home that sits right on Biscayne Bay.You know how we feel about taking your influences from wherever you find them. So if you’re in the process of making your own interior decoration decisions, be sure to take a look at the work of Isabelle Peribere for inspiration.

Cassandra Stanley – An Interior Design Prodigy

  • As you probably know by now, we love to highlight young interior designers who do amazing things, whether they’re in Miami or elsewhere. In Kansas City recently, interior design student Cassandra Stanley won the International Interior Design Association’s Design Wars competition for the second year in a row. Virtually unheard of!

Congratulations to Ms. Stanley — we can’t wait to see what comes next!

HIGH END INTERIOR DESIGN: WHAT’S OFTEN OVERLOOKED

You’ve heard us mention Slim Paley lots of times before. She’s one of my favorite high end interior design bloggers and a woman of impeccable taste.

One of her most recent posts is short, sweet, and simple…and that’s why I’m writing about it today. It’s about flowers. That’s right, the simplest of all things. But in Slim’s eyes and hands, they can be more powerful than the most extensive interior decoration overhaul.

With all the glitz, glamour, hustle, and bustle of the Miami scene, it can be easy to forget what we really mean when we say quality high end interior design. Simply, the main thing that separates high end interior designers from all the rest, is their attention to details as small as a vase of flowers.

HIGH END REALTOR TELLS US THE REAL REASONS FOR MIAMI’S RAPID GROWTH

There is no professional relationship more intimate than the one between a high end interior designer and a high end realtor.

One finds the perfect location for a client to live and the other turns it into the perfect home.

That’s why we’re so pleased to have with us today Miami’s Michael Internoscia. He is the rarest form of real estate professional — one who creates through the deals he puts together.

On this episode of DesignTV With Steven G., we hear about Michael’s unique vision directly from the source.

OUR SECOND FAVORITE HIGH END INTERIOR DESIGN SERIES GOES DRESSY

As our long time readers know, I’m a big fan of the video blogging high end interior design ladies at Quintessence. I especially love their videos.

In their newest episode, they bring us a couple high end interior designers who dress as well as they decorate.

Without further ado…
