THE GLASS PRISM IS COMING TO LINCOLN ROAD

The local Miami office of Perkins+Will has recently unveiled the designs for 1212 Lincoln Road project. This five-story mixed-use structure will be located at the corner of Alton Road and the internationally renowned Lincoln Road Mall in Miami Beach.

This complex will span 140,000 square feet and will feature 100 boutique hotel units, a European-style market, high-end retail space, as well as 450 parking spaces. The Market portion of the complex will contain fresh produce, as well as a assortment of glamorous restaurants. This project is currently aiming for LEED Gold certification.

The building will look like a glass prism with distinctly positioned glass façades. It will anchor this important intersection of Lincoln road creating a beautiful entryway to Miami Beach. This amazing design will add great value to Miami by combining sophistication and contemporary design to Lincoln Road.

1212 Lincoln Road has won undisputed approval from the City of Miami Beach’s Design Review Board. Be on the look out for this project to be completed in 2017!

THIS INSTALLATION IN THE DESIGN DISTRICT COULD BE YOUR NEXT DESIGN MUSE

You must check out Marc Quinn’s Myth Fortuna sculpture of supermodel Kate Moss in the Miami Design District when you are in the area.

As you know we are always excited about the new high-end fashions and architectural projects always popping up in the Design District. This area contains ever-changing artistic masterpieces displayed throughout the posh streets.

The sculpture, which depicts supermodel Kate Moss performing a virtually impossible inversion-meets-back-bend yoga pose, is on loan from the Opera Gallery. The exclusive piece “explores the idea of Moss as an abstraction, an idealized figure who is more of a cultural hallucination than an actual person of flesh and blood,” says Opera Gallery Director Dan Benchetrit. “[Quinn] chose Moss because she’s an icon of our age.”

If you look closely you can find nature within this piece, “If you look at the sculpture, you will see an orchid with the legs and the arms” Benchetrit says.

You can find this installation on display in the District’s Paseo Ponti between Cartier and Hermès. This piece is truly inspirational and captures this city’s fusion of art, fashion, and fitness.

MIAMI CITY PLANNERS TO BRING MORE PUBLIC ART TO CITY

Some exciting news is coming to Miami regarding the expansion of art in the cityscape! We love seeing new exhibits and galleries pop up especially when it is open to the public. We caught wind of these development and public art installations from the Miami Herald.

City planners intend to take over management of public art from Miami-Dade County’s successful Art in Public Places program. This program would require private developers to set aside project funds for the artwork.

To help boost Miami’s growing cultural magnitude, these installations of creative works would be brought to places across the city where everyone can enjoy them.

Miami-Dade County’s long-running Art in Public Places program is considered one of the most successful in the country, the county program has placed hundreds of sculptures, installations, murals, paintings and photographs at sites ranging from Miami International Airport to Port Miami, transit stations, libraries, housing developments and parks.

To judge the quality, value and appropriateness of the art, the city would also, like the county, create a panel of experts in various fields, including fine arts, design and architecture as well as real-estate development. This is exciting news to hear that even more wonderful design works will be spread across the city refereed by the best of the best in the art community.

The city is doing a very positive deed for the city by using public art to increase the value of the land and benefit the community.

We hope to hear more to come of this proposal in the late summer!
