There are many different forms of light you can bring into a room whether it’s a floor lamp or just natural light. Try finding an antique crystal chandelier out to add wonder to your dining room.

THIS INSTALLATION IN THE DESIGN DISTRICT COULD BE YOUR NEXT DESIGN MUSE

You must check out Marc Quinn’s Myth Fortuna sculpture of supermodel Kate Moss in the Miami Design District when you are in the area.

As you know we are always excited about the new high-end fashions and architectural projects always popping up in the Design District. This area contains ever-changing artistic masterpieces displayed throughout the posh streets.

The sculpture, which depicts supermodel Kate Moss performing a virtually impossible inversion-meets-back-bend yoga pose, is on loan from the Opera Gallery. The exclusive piece “explores the idea of Moss as an abstraction, an idealized figure who is more of a cultural hallucination than an actual person of flesh and blood,” says Opera Gallery Director Dan Benchetrit. “[Quinn] chose Moss because she’s an icon of our age.”

If you look closely you can find nature within this piece, “If you look at the sculpture, you will see an orchid with the legs and the arms” Benchetrit says.

You can find this installation on display in the District’s Paseo Ponti between Cartier and Hermès. This piece is truly inspirational and captures this city’s fusion of art, fashion, and fitness.

MIAMI CITY PLANNERS TO BRING MORE PUBLIC ART TO CITY

Some exciting news is coming to Miami regarding the expansion of art in the cityscape! We love seeing new exhibits and galleries pop up especially when it is open to the public. We caught wind of these development and public art installations from the Miami Herald.

City planners intend to take over management of public art from Miami-Dade County’s successful Art in Public Places program. This program would require private developers to set aside project funds for the artwork.

To help boost Miami’s growing cultural magnitude, these installations of creative works would be brought to places across the city where everyone can enjoy them.

Miami-Dade County’s long-running Art in Public Places program is considered one of the most successful in the country, the county program has placed hundreds of sculptures, installations, murals, paintings and photographs at sites ranging from Miami International Airport to Port Miami, transit stations, libraries, housing developments and parks.

To judge the quality, value and appropriateness of the art, the city would also, like the county, create a panel of experts in various fields, including fine arts, design and architecture as well as real-estate development. This is exciting news to hear that even more wonderful design works will be spread across the city refereed by the best of the best in the art community.

The city is doing a very positive deed for the city by using public art to increase the value of the land and benefit the community.

We hope to hear more to come of this proposal in the late summer!

THE WOES OF DECORATING BIG SPACES

When it comes to designing a space there are already so many different aspects to think about, such as walls, furniture, and style. What happens when you have so much space in a room you just don’t know where to start!?

Have no fear, we know it can be tricky to decorate a big space but today’s tips should help you jumpstart your interior design journey!

All of the classic design principles can also be applied to large spaces. When designing a large space it is particularly important to find a way that welcomes a guest when the step into the room. Under furnished or sparsely decorated rooms can make your guests feel lost and diminish the equity of the space.

Making sure you scale up your home accessories to this large space is also pertinent when designing. It is essential to get the scale right for the art, carpets, furniture and window treatments. This will allow you to create your own aesthetic.

One great way to tie the room together and add a focal point is by adding a one central light fixture such as a grandiose chandelier. Tie that together with gallery white walls and you can frame your room.

Always remember that with a large you have to keep an open concept. Everything has to ebb and flow. When you step back and look into a room, you want to be drawn in with stunning foundational details.

CHANEL’S CREATIVE DIRECTOR KARL LAGERFELD TAKES MIAMI

The world’s greatest artists and designers are always coming in and out of Miami to express themselves visually, whether it be through a gallery opening, street art, or architecture.

Karl Lagerfeld, Chanel’s iconic creative director, is in the works of starting his first ever interior design project for the Estates at Acqualina. The estates of Acqualina is an ultra-luxury residential complex in Miami’s Sunny Isles Beach. Lagerfeld will be the sole creative force behind the development’s two lobbies, rendering his superb style and detailed spirit into the interiors.

See expert from article: “[I] take great pride in knowing that the spaces I create will be such important spaces in the building,” said Lagerfeld. “Not only are they significant because they offer the first impression of the building, they are also the spaces where people come to socialize daily; they are like a common living room.”

The complex will complement the nearby Mansions at Acqualina, which debuted last fall. Slated for completion in 2020, the Estates at Acqualina will encompass two 50-story boutique towers with over 45,000 square feet of amenities, including a spa and fitness center, a restaurant overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, and an ice skating rink.

We are excited to see this project bloom in the next few years bringing even more luxury and elegance to South Florida.
