If you have been to NYC you must have taken a visit to the Highline Park in Chelsea. Such a wonderful place on the west side of the city to take a stroll! Lucky for us that same designer, James Ramsey ofRaad Studio, is bringing the Underline Park to Miami!

Though the park wouldn’t be up for a few years, take a look at some of the many exciting features to look forward to announced by Forbes article!

– A small outdoor amphitheater called Rain Garden will be a new spot for performances.

– Ribbon Rink, a winding concrete environment for families and kids (think skateboards, bikes and scooters).

– Brickell Backyard—a series of park-like “rooms” for commuters that are tied together by features like oolite bedrock formed into benches, outcrops and seatwalls (it also just received a hefty donation of $600,000 from Swire Properties!). “The Underline will provide Miamians a sense of place and community,” said Clare Laverty, AVP of Marketing and Public Relations, Swire Properties Inc. “This is why Swire is so passionate about the project and decided to support its growth. As the developers behind Brickell City Centre, it has always been our vision to create connectivity and an urban lifestyle for the Brickell neighborhood.”

Shop Together
When you purchase new home pieces together, a couple creates a shared décor and can really make a place feel like home for the both of them. From furniture to home accessories and artwork, all types of home décor count, and are important to buy together. Start fresh and sell all your old furniture and allow a budget for the new!

Work With The Contrast
One your favorite items are chosen start with a clean slate and give the walls a fresh coat of paint. Rather than trying to group items that are similar, experiment with pairing those that contrast. HOW MIAMI BECAME THE ‘DESIGN CITY’

Once on the forefront of the Art Deco movement, for decades Miami was considered the hot spot for vacation or retirement. The monotonous edifices had small windows and narrow balconies, and the design came off as lackluster.

Then, in 2002, Art Basel put the city into the global art and design limelight. It brought the most renowned designers to this coastal city. This huge association of design and art helped bring sophistication and class to Miami Beach.
Now, the second annual Maison&Objet Americas solidifies Miami as the city of design in the United States. This decorative arts trade fair returns to Miami Beach this month making it yet again, a destination for design aficionados.

Since the spawn of Art Basel more and more galleries have opened up in Miami and new condo towers started popping up all over the place. Homegrown artists have plenty of outlets to share their work with locals and tourists down Lincoln Road!

The Wynwood Walls took street art to the next level, by dedicating a space to this special art style. The Design District furthered Miami’s luxury level with some of the most fabulous shopping you can find in Florida! These booming neighborhoods brought all of the fashionistas and other urbanites to settle in Miami.

More and more private collectors are building showcases and sharing more wonderful art everyday. We are happy to call this glorious design filled city home! Miami is truly the place to come to find design inspiration.

INTERIOR DECORATION INSPIRATION OF THE WEEK: PERFECT PATIO

This summer it’s time to escape the indoors and get some fresh air on your patio or garden room. It’s the time of year to celebrate the great weather with BBQ’s, parties, and lounging outside with friends.

When building the perfect patio it is important to design for your summer needs. Today I am going to help you with some inspiration to create the perfect patio and build your outdoor space.

When starting to think about all of the factors to start decorating your perfect patio you should always start from your interior elements. Ask yourself how you will be using the outdoor space for and what you will be doing in it, whether its cooking or relaxing. If you will be cooking outdoors you should consider getting a dining room table. A full cushion set of seating will create a tranquil space. When it comes to choosing material I recommend aluminum furniture for your patio because it is lighter and can withstand elements such as saltwater or corrosion.

You should also get that gardening started and create a fairytale in your backyard if you have the space! Use the planters or pots as accent colors that will really make that patio pop!

Try adding table lanterns with LED lights to make a bold move and ambient setting. Umbrellas can offer shade and rugs can anchor the space.

If you’re having trouble choosing your outdoor color scheme always stars with colors from nature. Grab inspiration from what is around you and use earth tones or blues from the sky.
