TOP 3 BEST DESIGNED SPACES IN LOS ANGELES

If you happen to be traveling to California any time soon and are in need of some design inspiration, check these places out!

Petersen Automotive Museum
This museum originally opened in 1962 as Seibu, a Japanese store. Today the only Japanese things you’ll find in here are some of the cars, including 2001 Honda S2000 driven in the movie 2 Fast 2 Furious. This museum recently underwent a huge renovation and is now bright red with 300-plus steel ribbon sections wrapping around the building. Inside you’ll find rotating displays organized by history, industry, and artistry. They have some beautiful cars in storage.

Ace Hotel
This boutique hotel brand really knows how to preserve old spaces when creating a lodging. The LA outpost is located in the Gothic-influenced, nearly century-old United Artists building. They’ve even restored a theater from the 1920s that looks like a Moroccan cave; its vaulted ceiling is covered in thousands of tiny mirrors that make it truly shine!

Walt Disney Concert Hall
While being almost acoustically perfect, the hall itself is an impressive sight to see. Architect Frank Gehr designed this Concert Hall. The warm fir-and-cedar auditorium contrasts with the concert hall’s gravity-defying metallic exterior. The 3.6-acre complex includes a community garden on the third level that you can visit for free.

THE MAGIC OF MATCHING METAL AND WOOD

Balance and stability is everything when it comes to interior decorating. When things are evenly spaced you greet people into the space with absolute gratification. It really is bliss when your find the perfect poise.

This can be a challenge to fund Yin and Yang in a home but synergy can be created with a good design eye. Wood and metal happen to be a great match with classic elemental style.

The warmth of the wood combined with the coldness of the metal creates a balanced fusion.

The texture of wood come off as soft and has a natural amiable value that created a comfortable and embracing vibe. Wood symbolizes craftsmanship and has a human connection.

Metal comes off as tough and strong. Metal is powerful and seductive.

This great combo of natural material and industrial material appears astonishing and can be used to make wonderful home accessories. A great inspiration for a future home-makeover!

WHERE TO FIND SECRET ART PLACES IN MIAMI

The art scene in Miami is extremely diverse, and thanks to our eclectic community, Miami has become a world-class art destination! There are places all over Dade County with amazing art that you would never expect to stumble upon. Here are my top 3 picks of places around Miami where you can find some unexpected great art.

Klima, South Beach
When visitors come to this restaurant they admire the art on the walls just as much as the exquisite food on their plates! Two of the more notable pieces are “Tel Aviv Man XVI” by Jaume Plensa, sculpted by carved metal letters to resemble the silhouette of a human-like figure. And a painting of a Spanish bullfighter, entitled “Matador” by Miguel Macaya. These works are a beauty to see in person.

Little Haiti Soccer Park, Little Haiti
This soccer park in Little Haiti has got murals even bigger than the Wynwood Walls. What makes this park so special is that Pinnacle Housing has teamed with residents and artists from Haiti and Miami to create a true cultural urban gallery. A portion of the walls is scheduled for local graffiti artists who will now have a legal place to display their art.

West Dade Solid Transfer Station, Westchester
This art spot is a bit strange but outside of this trash mountain lies a vibrant, 7ft sculpture from Karel Appel that’ll at least give you something nice to look at while you dispose of whatever is it your are throwing out.

GET READY FOR SOME SPRING STORAGE SOLUTIONS!

The weather horrors of winter are coming to an end. For those of you in the colder states, means its time to store away that winter ware! Spring is here!

It’s easy for storage solutions to be overlooked and basic. But today I am going to share with you amazing statement pieces to change the way you look at storage options. Here are my top picks from this Ocean Drive article.

This modern bar will store your liquor in true ornate fashion. This tasteful piece will really start a conversation in your home.

These rustic shelves are elegant and simple, also very trendy for 2016. You can try hanging them up on the bathroom to store your vanity items. They will look beautiful and easy to access. You can get these at Pottery Barn.

TOP 3 BEST DESIGNED UNDERGROUND SPACES IN AMERICA

“Underground” spaces that are extremely well designed are very rare. How can one renovate such a dark space so magnificently? Today I am going to show you the top three best-designed underground spaces in the United States.

The Greenbrier
White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia
Talk about a 5-star bunker. The Greenbrier was a bomb shelter created by the government at the Greenbrier hotel in 1961. Located 720 foot below, the former “Project Greek Island” comprises a 25-ton blast door, decontamination chambers, a hospital clinic, power plant, and a 6-month supply of food and pharmaceuticals. If you wanted the best place to stay under a nuclear attack this would be a living luxury resort.

Mansueto Library
Chicago, Illinois
The glass-paneled domed top of this University of Chicago library sticks out above ground. Students do need some natural light to study! Just below the glass dome is a five-story book depository. An automated system delivers any of the 3.5 million books in an average of 5 minutes. It’s basically a library run by robot librarians! There’s even a freezer set at negative 40 degrees to clean wet, moldy, or insect-infested books. This place is the coolest place to read!

Spa Terra
Napa, California
The Meritage Resort’s 9,000 square-feet spa is located in its “Estate Cave. This spa is filled with steam grottos, soaking pools, waterfalls, treatment rooms, and whirlpools located 40 foot below the hillside. This Mediterranean atmosphere is filled with mosaics, wrought-iron fixtures and earth tones.
