MASON&OBJET 2016 IS TAKING MIAMI BY STORM WITH NEW DIRECTOR GASTON ISOLDI

Every year we get to see this amazing luxury design fair, and this year Mason&Objet is getting a new director, Gaston Isoldi! This Miami-based director is sure to shake things up!

This year the fair will take place in May, and we are excited to announce that Miami will be home base for the Americas showcase. Mason&Objet’s mission is to bring the most talented players in the design world together from around the globe to showcase innovation, growing trends, and sophisticated design work.

Isoldi will be leading the charge and has much to say in his interview with Ocean Drive in the direction he will be leading it.

Isoldi states that Mason&Objet has made Miami its home for the Americas show because Miami is now the center of art and design for the Americas. This is a very exciting proclamation, as we Miamians know the success of design in this city.

Last year the show had a waitlist and Isoldi expects this year to surpass those expectations. The Miami Beach Convention Center has been going through many renovations but this will not hold them back.

Isoldi plans on adjusting the balance of products from Europe, North America, Latin America, and the rest of the world. This year they will be sharing more amazing product from the Americas side.

HIGH END INTERIOR DECORATION INSPIRATION OF THE WEEK: GLASS DOORS

The world of high-end interior design always calls for clever and bold statements. We have showed you how to glamorize your entrance hall, and shared with you some unique furniture. Today’s inspiration is all about glass, particularly in door form, and the many treatments you can get them in.

Contemporary Double Glass Doors
Double glass doors are elegant and inviting. Adding warm colors and unique glass design adds an element of surprise to any home.

Vitus Glass Doors
A glass door with refined frosted details adds beauty and sophistication to the design, and still maintains a simple and chic feel.

Fused Glass Doors
A colorful interior glass door is unique and beautiful. These doors are durable with the use of fusion technology that allows controlled slumping of flat glass into a mold in high temperature. The after effect is stunning.

WHAT IS “INTERIORSCAPING”?

We have talked to you about bringing the outside in but we haven’t named the design technique. Today we are going to talk to you about the background of interiorscaping and how you can use it as a design tool your home.

When choosing the right plants for your home you have to think about their upkeep and structural size. You also have to incorporate lasting color into you color scheme.

Plants and flowers can bring you a sleek, clean, minimalistic appearance.

Turning parts of your home into a mini-conservatory full of foliage isn’t exactly how interiorscaping works, but finding a fluid connection of plant and furniture is.

Interiorscaping is much more then just purchasing a new houseplant, but making nature blend with your home design interiors.

Timeless classics such as orchids and seasonal plants like poinsettia, kalanchoe and Christmas cactus do not always require soil and extract their nutrients from the air. Succulents are another self-sustainable plant with beautiful different tones and colors.

Interiorscaping the right way can ad a glorious dash of color into your home and help ground you with nature at the same time.

INTERIOR DESIGN “PINSPIRATION” OF THE WEEK: BERRY SHADES

This week we are going to delve into the world of Pinterest and the great interior design inspirations shared. Social media has transformed the way that interior design lovers can connect with one another and share their amazing ideas.

Today we are going to share you some pinspiration and unique ways to use berry shades in your home.

Berry toned purples will be everywhere his year! Palettes will draw on berry colors like mauve, grape, and mulberry, depending on the season. For spring, softened pastel shades will of course be prominent, grounded by cream and grey accents as well as natural materials.

DESIGN INSPIRATION OF THE WEEK: DAVID BOWIE

This month it was extremely unfortunate that the world lost a hero forever. David Bowie was not just a music legend, but also a fashion and design icon. He was a troubadour and a visionary when it comes to pop culture since 1960’s!

Today I am going to highlight some of Bowie’s most memorable moments in fashion and design through out the years to commemorate this star.

Pictured above as his alter ego Ziggy Stardust, Bowie’s androgynous look became a defining image of the 1970s. His face painted with a pink-and-blue lightning bolt for the Aladdin Sane album cover is also one of the most enduring images of the musician.

The shoot for the artwork was directed by Celia Philo and photographed by Brian Duffy at his studio in London’s Primrose Hill, with makeup by Pierre La Roche.

Above is one of the outfits by Japanese fashion designer Kansai Yamamoto were used during the Aladdin Sane tour. These included patterned knitted one-pieces and billowing capes, but the standout garment was the striped body suit.

The black costume’s wildly exaggerated silhouette expanded out at the legs, forming curves that were emphasized further by the pinstripes.

Many of Bowie’s iconic glam-rock looks were created for his appearances as Ziggy. Paired with his bright red mullet, the musician used face paint and makeup to exaggerate his androgyny.

During gigs and photo-shoots in 1973, a golden sun was applied to his forehead, while metallic eye shadow and bright red lipstick added to the drama.

As you can see David Bowie was shaking things up in the art world way before Lady Gaga came long. I respect his work and his music and his artistry will love on and keep inspiring more and more.
