TOP 5 TIPS FOR DECORATING DIFFICULT CORNERS

In the world of high-end interior design there are so many tricks to the trade when it comes to decorating a space. I have shared with you many ideas over the past months when it comes to redecorating kitchens, bathrooms, and even your ceiling.

Today I am going to share with you my top 5 tricks that will help you decorate those difficult corners in any room!

Find a Corner Cabinet or Table: Many people overlook the fact that some furniture has literally been created to save space and fir perfectly in a corner. This may be the obvious solution but the trick is to hunt down the right pieces and make your corner space more efficient!

Balance a Tall Ladder: Try using and old wooden ladder and place it angled on your corner. This may sound random but it makes perfect blanket or towel storage in a unique way. This can build on a real bohemian aesthetic.

Place Some Plants: Go green and bring the outside in! The natural leaves and branches will grow with the corner space and effectively fill it. This will bring true organic and beautiful vibes to brighten up your space.

Find a Round Table or Console: A round table first great in any corner and also seats more bodies than a rectangular one. Set your self up with a breakfast nook or a game area.

Add Some Shelves: Corner shelves are a quick and easy project to either buy or install over the weekend. You can place all those small framed photos you may have up with any awards or relics to keep that corner personal.

For any of you out there that got a glimpse of MTV’s VMA’s this past weekend, Miami designer Jen Stark let her creative talents shine bright on that stage this year!

Stark is most known for her psychedelic patterns, rainbow infused artwork and trippy animations. Her creative work truly flourished for MTV this year when Miley Cyrus came sliding out of Stark designed rainbow swirl tunnel.

I am always proud to see a Miami native in the spotlight and Stark has truly made it there. Stark’s rainbow animations are truly inspiring. Rainbow has been a real popular inspiration this summer when it comes to the arts.

We try to support the arts in many ways we can here at Interiors by Steven G. We are always looking to promote special programs for youths in the arts. The fine arts here in Miami are a big part of our culture and rapidly growing more and more.

HIGH END INTERIOR DECORATION INSPIRATION OF THE WEEK: BRICK

The interior design inspiration I am going to discuss this week is one element that is part of the infrastructure of a home. Exposed brick has always been a unique home element that can compliment different kind of homes.

You can go modern and sophisticated, or rustic and charming, exposed brick can truly play many roles in bringing a home together. So lets talk about some of the ways you can accentuate your brick whether it being the walls or your ceiling, and let’s make the most of it.

Brick walls have the appeal to feel ultra stable and strong. This contrasting with modern furniture can give you a true mix of contemporary and vintage. Using these Parisian decorating tips can also help you build a chic aesthetic around your brick.

Contrasting the heavy brick walls or ceiling with soft home fabrics or home accessories will create a very bohemian vibe and maybe even bring out your inner fairy-tale inspiration.

Painting the brick white can make a cool, clean, texturized, and effect to a room. A lot of the time you will find exposed brick facades in older homes. You can check out some amazing tips for older homes and apply them to your exposed bricked out room.

When it comes to color Marsala is still hot hot hot as the color of the year! Warm tones like orange, red, and gold will help create a dramatic effect. Cooler tones like purple will amp of the regality of the brick in the room and give a super luxe feel.

If you’re one of the lucky ones with charming brick in your home then try out these ideas and liven up the room!

FIRST LOOK AT MIAMI SHORE CLUB RENOVATIONS

Many of you know how real estate developments and renovations go hand in hand with the interior design industry. I am always excited to share with you the latest projects that are popping up all over South Florida.

Today I am going to share with you the first image unveiled of Isay Weinfeld’s Shore Club renovation in Miami Beach.

The Shore Club is an iconic staple of Miami Beach for many reasons. This hotel was built in the 1930’s and placed on the ever so vibrant Collin’s Avenue. It has been well known for it’s pool parties, celebrity sightings, and Art Deco architecture ever since it opened.

The Shore Club Hotel is currently owned by the Morgan’s Hotel Group but has recently been undertaking some expansions to turn the hotel into a complex. This Brazilian hospitality/gastronomy group Fasano is set to convert the hotel into a luxury building containing around 75 residences and 100 hotel rooms.

These Brazilian stylization renderings show a lot of white and minimalist design details. You can also notice a glimpse of wood and geometrical pool shape. This will be Fasano’s first hotel to debut in the United States.

This huge revamp is expected to open in early 2017 so be on the look out!

You can read more about the renovation here.

ADD A TOUCH OF ALLURE TO YOUR HOME WITH BLACK

In the world of high-end interior design you mustn’t be scared to take risks. Being bold and unique with your décor will fill your home with personalization and style.

Today I am going to share with you ways that using the color black in your home design can create true allure. Just like you have that little black dress in your closet, using black in interior design always works for any occasion or space.

The color black exudes brilliance and sophistication. Even just a touch of black can add intrigue and help fine-tune your decorating scheme. Black brings contrast to any room without clashing, because it matches with everything!

Try adding a black coffee table near your white couch or chairs to bring a real monochromatic edge. Even the small accessories such as black throw pillows or a black rug will help enchant a space.

You can also try using black on your homes architectural elements such as a black fireplace or black moldings.

To great boundless depth in a room try choosing an accent wall to paint black. A black wall off set with a black rug will be sure to make your home accessories and artwork truly stand out.

Try using black in your next decorating challenge!

TOP 5 GLOBAL INTERIOR DESIGN TRENDS

Anytime I come across the most current design trends and innovations in the world of interior design I just need to share them with you! Today I would like to share an Elle Décor article with you that discuss some of the biggest global movements in interior design right now.

It is very important to keep yourself informed with the trends of this world. This can help mold and inspire your decorating style.

See the top global trends below…

United State: Striking Light Fixtures
In the U.S. no detail is being over looked and statement lighting is the latest movement. You can swap out your light fixtures for some bold and geometrical ones. Try using elaborate chandeliers and creative floor lamps to really light up a room aesthetically.

Japan: Green Interiors
Traditionally Japanese culture celebrates nature with elaborate gardens. Unfortunately big cities such as Tokyo do not allow enough residence space for a garden, the new green trend is to bring the outside in. You can adopt the green looks with flowers, succulents, foliage and dry flowers.

Spain: Sophistication Meets Youthfulness
The Spaniards are focusing on traditional decorative elements but combining them with playful ceramics and new textiles.

Italy: Industrial Materials
Leather, woods, and stones are being contrasted with strong craftsmanship in Italy. Combining the light of metal and silk are wonderful to touch and appealing to the eye.

Germany: New Elegance
This trend is inspired by Art Deco and uses lavish material like gold, brass, and velvet. Statement pieces go along way to define elegance in a modern style.

HIGH END INTERIOR DECORATION INSPIRATION OF THE WEEK: MARILYN MONROE

Today’s interior decoration inspiration stems from the renowned model and celebrity, Marilyn Monroe. Monroe was a true beauty and influencer in the midst of 1950’s and early 1960’s American culture.

In the Monroe era everyone knew her or wanted to be her. Her glamorous life style was well known and envied.

I have found one great article that will give you an inside scoop on how Marilyn Monroe’s lifestyle effected her home decorating abilities. You will see how luxury and quaintness meet.

I am going to tell to you about some of the ways Marilyn influenced her own home décor.

Happy Memories – When decorating your own personal space it is important to find relevant nostalgia that can equally match the style of the room and your emotions. It is important to stay true to yourself and keep a piece of your accomplishments or memories on display.

Some of these memories may not be just figures but possibly a set of china that was given to you from someone dear or an antique statement piece item. That chair passed down from you parents or maybe that mirror in your hallway was found or purchased somewhere special.

It is true that as times goes by trends fade and styles change but happy memories last forever. When you can decorate wisely and make the right choices you can create a truly unique and inspiring home. Just take a tip from Marilyn Monroe and cherish the good times and incorporate them in your new space.

MIAMI’S TOP 4 NEW RESTAURANTS: SUMMER 2015

Miami not only has some of the most opulent and beautiful beaches, we have some of the most exquisite restaurants around! This city by the beach is a melting bot of wonderful different cultures and a heavy Latin American influence.

Today I am going to share with you some of the best new restaurants that have opened in Miami this season!

Primrose – South Beach
Primrose is located inside the newly renovated Stiles Hotel. You can start your night downstairs in its secret, sexy cocktail lounge Gold Bar. There you can sip on some specialty drinks before getting to dinner.  Make your way through their historic lobby to the patio on Collins Ave.

Their menu is long on fresh seafood, and you should definitely partake in the colossal gulf shrimp with cinnamon basil romesco. The Kobe beef burger with a sunny side-up egg and smoked bacon is still a must-try!

Beach Craft – Miami Beach
Tom Colicchio, the father of the ingredient-focused, farm-to-table movement, has opened a rustic, beachy restaurant at 1 Hotel & Homes South Beach. Designed by Meyer Davis Studio, the restaurant features an open kitchen and whitewashed woods. The minimalistic décor makes your feel like you are eating by the sea.

You have to try any locally caught fishes, or antibiotic-free meat dishes! Try Turbot with baby turnips, English peas and black garlic purée for your sides.

Sip on this cocktail, From Russia with Spice (vodka, lime, jalapeno and ginger beer). For dessert you must have the thousand-layer doughnut drizzled with key lime curd and topped with rose petals.

Byblos – Miami Beach
Byblos décor combines ancient Mediterranean artifacts with a bright and royal stylized design. An open kitchen and second story windows give you a view from every angle.

You must try there rice dishes, exclusively the Sweet Jeweled Rice. Braised Colorado Lamb with house made pickles divine as is all the small mezze plates such as the Lamb Ribs, Roasted Red Beets and simple but addictive Citrus Mixed Olives.

To drink try sipping on one of there tea-based cocktail. My favorite is the Gulab, served with rose-infused vodka, lemon, with pomegranate and rose petals on top.

For desert…The Brik Pastry Cigar with Fig Crème and pickled Bing cherries along with Yogurt Mousse Pistachio Cake served with orange blossom water and flower jam from Paradise Farms sum up the meal quite nicely.

Coya – Brickell
Brickell is known for a very authentic Latin American experience but it is also quite modern. Take one look inside Coya and it will bring you to old Latin America with its high ceilings and rotating collection of 1900s photographs.

Coya’s large open bar specializes in pisco drinks and rum cocktails. This place delivers a true members-only club experience. You must try the red snapper ceviche in shiitake mushroom and truffle leche de tigre.

Be sure to grab a bit at one of these amazing restaurants this weekend!
