TOP 3 HOME DECORATING MISTAKES

Among the midst of our home designing pillage, we must take a step back and reflect on all of our interior choices. There are of course many challenges involved with creating a space. Sometimes there are internal struggles with partners and sometimes it is what your budget allows.

Today I am going to share with you the top 3 most common decorating mistakes and enable you to avoid these obstacles.

Whether it is advice on paint colors, or rug size, Steven G is always here to help your high-end interior design needs!

Choosing that Bright Yellow Couch
Bright and bold colors can be very harmonious when decorating a space as long as they have reason and purpose. If you are to choose a bright colored sofa you may want to reconsider based on the ebb and flow of the rest of the room.

If you did pick that banana colored couch you are now forcing the room to always carry this loud aesthetic, which takes away from any diversification in the future.

However if you choose a subdued colored couch you’ll have the ability to interchange different colored home accessories such as blankets and throw pillows. You can re-arrange and stylize the room over the years without being stuck to one look. So go neutral when sofa shopping!

Not Testing Out Paints Before Your Purchase
You simply cannot just purchase your favorite color you see at the store! This is because every color can look differently in any room. This is due to many natural lighting causes.

I recommend testing the colors beforehand. Test out various swatches on different walls and compare how they look under certain light. You will be much happier with your color choice when you see the best-suited color based on the wall.

Rushing Your Decorating
You do not have to finish your entire home decorating at once! Rushing will not bring you your dream home. After living in the space for a while, certain design issues begin to surface. You may notice that your curtains do not block enough light or that the guest bedroom should be moved. Your home will evolve and grow with your needs and surroundings.

You want to make sure you do your research to avoid design mistakes! You have already made the right choice by reading this blog!

MUST SEE POP-UP ART GALLERY COMING TO MIAMI

I am a huger supporter of fine arts in Miami and NYC and when it comes to my readers I cant wait to share any news the art world brings!

The fine arts and high-end interior design are industries that depend on each other when designing a beautiful home.

Today I am going to tell you more about pop-up art galleries that are coming to Miami this summer!

Jose Frances, the founder of online boutique gallery +598, will be bringing back his pop-up gallery concept this summer! With the success of his pop-up gallery this past March in the Design District, Frances has decided to have it again and connect with his patrons.

His vision was such a huge success in March that he now knows how important it is to keep this art industry culture in Miami. His show will be a mix of cocktail and Tupperware style parties. Frances is a true influencer who is expanding his business model to attract his clientele.

Frances wants to offer more than his online gallery and make it accessible to everyone! We are excited to see what he has in store for us this summer!

UP, UP, AND AWAY- HIGH END INTERIOR DESIGN TAKES ON LUXURY JETS

If you’ve been reading for a while, you know by now that I get very excited when I come across innovations in the world of high end interior design.

Whether its art that I love, projects I am working on, or things that inspire I just want to share it with everyone I know.

Today I am going to share with you these glamorous new interiors of Mercedes private jets.

Mercedes Benz style and Lufthansa Technik have teamed up to create this new concept.

Mercedes owner Daimler has come up with a futuristic interior design concept for private jets that will change your whole experience of flying in a plane.

Ultra-lux is a huge factory in this model that takes shape of a “dynamic, spiral layout.”

Their design scheme highlights fresh, fluid lines and warm wood colors. It is brought together with modern black and white accents. The innovative technology concepts include entertainment systems integrated into the wall panels with touch screens. These only become visible when they are on.

I am very impressed with this swanky creation and cannot wait to see it in fruition. Forget private jets why not make all planes this spectacular!

TOP 5 WAYS TO USE WHITE FOR A FRESH DESIGN LOOK

They are so many articles out there telling you how to use the color white while interior decorating. There are about a million different ways the color white can influence a room.

I have read through the articles for you and discovered some of my favorite ways to use white in high end interior design.

Today I am going to show you my top 5 favorite ways using white can tie together simplicity and strength in your home.

  1. Accessorize – When using white you can add layers and layers of white accessories. This helps texturize a room and synchronize a space.
  2. Change With The Seasons – Having an all white space gives you the freedom for an easy color swap out that matches the season. In the summer replace those dark navy winter pillows for bright popping orange ones. You can also easily swap out your rug to help define the season and mood.
  3. All The Different Whites – There are various amounts of tones out there so you must be careful when choosing your white for a room. By having so many options it also allows you to distinctively identify your space based on your own personal taste. Freshen up a space with a pale blue white or a warm yellow white.
  4. White Upholstery – Try using white outdoor fabrics inside. These are washable and help add valued texture without losing the power of stain resistance.
  5. Harmonizing Powers – Older homes that have character but have also been lived in by many people before you. If you notice there is a fragmented and disjointed air to the interior then you can use white to instantly synchronize the space. The power of white gives you the freedom to start over with out forcing a daunting color scheme onto a room.

INTERIOR DECORATION INSPIRATION OF THE WEEK: THE OBLITERATION ROOM

As you already know I am a huge admirer of the fine arts and I am always looking for the best art exhibits to see!

If any of you are headed to New York City this spring be sure to check out Yayoi Kusama – Give Me Love exhibit at the David Zwirner Gallery.

Kusama’s Give me love exhibit features a room full of boisterous pumpkin shaped sculptures, a gallery filled with grand abstract and colorful works on canvas, and last but not least the Obliteration Room.

Through our all of her works she expresses herself with her trademark dots. In the Obliteration Room she has installed and actual trailer with a kitchen and dining room with everything completely covered in white. From the dog bed on the floor to the kitchen sink, everything has been covered in white paint.

Visitors are allowed to walk through the house and upon enter gets a sheet of sticker dots in various neon colors. You then explore the interiors of the house and can sporadically place these sticker dots wherever you please.

This unique exhibit allows views to engage with the art and express themselves through the interior space.

Now this very white room has been covered with this sticker dots. Be sure to stick some yourself and add to this heap of rainbow bewilderment.

This spectacular exhibit closes June 13th so be sure to interact with it soon!

The David Zwirner Gallery is located on 519 & 525 W19th St. NY, NY, 10011.
