TOP 5 WAYS TO USE WHITE FOR A FRESH DESIGN LOOK

They are so many articles out there telling you how to use the color white while interior decorating. There are about a million different ways the color white can influence a room.

I have read through the articles for you and discovered some of my favorite ways to use white in high end interior design.

Today I am going to show you my top 5 favorite ways using white can tie together simplicity and strength in your home.

  1. Accessorize – When using white you can add layers and layers of white accessories. This helps texturize a room and synchronize a space.
  2. Change With The Seasons – Having an all white space gives you the freedom for an easy color swap out that matches the season. In the summer replace those dark navy winter pillows for bright popping orange ones. You can also easily swap out your rug to help define the season and mood.
  3. All The Different Whites – There are various amounts of tones out there so you must be careful when choosing your white for a room. By having so many options it also allows you to distinctively identify your space based on your own personal taste. Freshen up a space with a pale blue white or a warm yellow white.
  4. White Upholstery – Try using white outdoor fabrics inside. These are washable and help add valued texture without losing the power of stain resistance.
  5. Harmonizing Powers – Older homes that have character but have also been lived in by many people before you. If you notice there is a fragmented and disjointed air to the interior then you can use white to instantly synchronize the space. The power of white gives you the freedom to start over with out forcing a daunting color scheme onto a room.

INTERIOR DECORATION INSPIRATION OF THE WEEK: THE OBLITERATION ROOM

As you already know I am a huge admirer of the fine arts and I am always looking for the best art exhibits to see!

If any of you are headed to New York City this spring be sure to check out Yayoi Kusama – Give Me Love exhibit at the David Zwirner Gallery.

Kusama’s Give me love exhibit features a room full of boisterous pumpkin shaped sculptures, a gallery filled with grand abstract and colorful works on canvas, and last but not least the Obliteration Room.

Through our all of her works she expresses herself with her trademark dots. In the Obliteration Room she has installed and actual trailer with a kitchen and dining room with everything completely covered in white. From the dog bed on the floor to the kitchen sink, everything has been covered in white paint.

Visitors are allowed to walk through the house and upon enter gets a sheet of sticker dots in various neon colors. You then explore the interiors of the house and can sporadically place these sticker dots wherever you please.

This unique exhibit allows views to engage with the art and express themselves through the interior space.

Now this very white room has been covered with this sticker dots. Be sure to stick some yourself and add to this heap of rainbow bewilderment.

This spectacular exhibit closes June 13th so be sure to interact with it soon!

The David Zwirner Gallery is located on 519 & 525 W19th St. NY, NY, 10011.

MIAMI DESIGN DISTRICT IS DOUBLING UP WITH 500 MILLION-DOLLAR EXPANSION

Over the past decade South Florida has been booming in the luxury and design industries. So many new development projects have been started such as the Miami Beach Convention Center Hotel and Tower 155.

These businesses reflect the local economy very positively and keep it growing at a rapid pace.

I am excited to announce the expansion of the Miami Design District. Developers are projecting to double the size of this neighborhood, adding an abundance of luxury shops and trendy restaurants.

This growing retail and restaurant commerce will double the amount of tourism in Miami as well. A total of 60 stores and restaurants are set to open by mid-2017. This is on top of the 70 already existing.

Some of the talked about brands that will be joining the Design District are Dolce & Gabbana and ABC Kitchen. A lot of the current stores such as Prada and Christian Louboutin will be developing large flagship stores.

This growth spur in Miami truly makes this city a destination for shoppers and lovers of fine taste and I am a proud to be a resident!

HOW TO PICK QUALITY FABRICS WITHOUT LOSING YOUR MIND

As a high end interior designer, I see more people go crazy when trying to pick the right fabrics for their home than possibly any other decision they make. Whether it’s Do-It-Yourself decoration or the most high end interior design job, figuring this out just seems to stress people out like nothing else.

I get it…choosing fabrics is kind of like deciding on a new hairstyle. Sure, it’s only what goes on top, but in many ways it’s the finish that ties everything else together.

That’s why for today’s episode of DesignTV With Steven G., I wanted to give you some pointers on how to make this happen to make sure your home ends up to be everything you dreamed it would be, down to the last detail.

FOOLPROOF INTERIOR DESIGN PLANNING TIPS

We have all had our fair share of moving into new home and renovating old properties. Whether you are interior decorating with your partner, roommate, or family there are many errors you can avoid.

Avoiding extra work is helpful when budgeting for your interior decorating. It saves you time as well!

Today I am going to share with you some tips to help avoid the most common interior design disasters.

Planning the Space
One of the most common made mistakes when interior decorating is miscalculating the measures and proportions of a room. You want to avoid cluttering a room by fitting in the appropriate size furniture. Space planning is the most critical part of the design process so make sure to not skip this step and do it right! Besides jotting down measurements try using interactive blueprints such as www.floorprints.com.

Rugs
It is very important to consider your floor treatments in any room. Rugs provide both warm and cozy feel and they can also help define any awkward space.

I have many insights to help positioning and choosing your rug.

Artwork
There are many ways you can express yourself with artwork and maximize the look of your room. Loud colors can work in juxtaposition with a neutral color schemes room. Large art can be a central feature in a smaller room, for example you can use a large mirror. You can also make a strong statement with a cluster of individual art pieces in small and large spaces.

Hiring high-end professional resources will help you choose the perfect artwork for your home. You can find some amazing conversation pieces at Antiquities in Miami.

Over all if you use these methods toward your decorating goal you can make changes to create the perfect living space suits your tastes and lifestyle.

Mirrors
When you add a decorative mirror to this space you will add extra depth and significance to your living room. Small or large the mirror can add visual space and light to your room.

Gallery Wall
If you are having trouble choosing what pictures are behind-the-couch-worthy, then just take a group of your favorite pictures and present them all gallery-style. This look that takes advantage of the wall space and is appealing and interesting to view.

Statement Artwork
After reading this blog we hope we have inspired you enough and enhanced you eye for design. Why not show off your personal artwork and make your mark in your living room. Blow up a photograph that you love and get it elegantly framed. It will be a beauty to look at and a real conversation piece.

Library
If you are an avid book reader and also need a place to fit your large bookshelves, try behind your couch. There is no better view than an entire wall covered in classics. This look will give you a wow factor plus easy access to your favorite reads.

Accent Wall
The wall behind your sofa is a perfect place for an accent wall. Pair it with a neutral sofa and simple decorations to hang, and you will have edgy but refined feel in your living room. Painting the accent all is affordable and fun. Try out the color of the year, Marsala!

Adding Shelves
By adding shelves it is not only great for extra storage, but also a personal space to hold your family photos and art. This gives you the option to switch up the objects on the shelf when the look becomes stale.

INTERIOR DECORATION INSPIRATION OF THE WEEK: MOROCCAN RUGS

Finding the perfect rug can be a difficult task. There are so many different patterns, shapes, and sizes to choose from and they can really set the tone for a room.

Today I am going to share with you one of my favorite inspirations, Moroccan Rugs. The amazing this about vintage Moroccan Rugs is that though they share this traditional and cultural feel they also offer a contemporary look.

These style rugs are becoming a hot tend this spring.

We are seeing more and more traditional Moroccan weaving in modern high-end collections such as Tory Burch and Lanvin. More and more tasteful mavens have been drawing inspiration from customary African crafts.

These rugs are terrifically unique including many jewel tones and intricate patterns. Each rug lays down its own beautiful story.

This African weaving tradition goes back centuries and it is actually fairly simple to add a Moroccan rug to any style interior design scheme!

I definitely suggest trying this look out.

A MIAMI BEACH CONVENTION CENTER HOTEL IS COMING TO MIAMI!

The world of high-end interior design and the real estate industry go hand in hand for many reasons. Both industries thrive off each other based on location and value.

These huge developments strengthen the local commerce in south Florida and help enhance the travel industry.

The Miami Beach Convention Center Hotel will be an incredible sight and bring growth to the community.

Here is South Florida we all know and love our Miami Beach Convention Center, bringing tons of industries to our side of the country. Holding many events such as, Art Basel, Maison & Objet, Home Design and Remodeling Showsand many more.

This new hotel will send a new wave of industries to Miami. This 300-foot tall, 800-room convention center hotel is set to be complete by November 2018.

In exchange for a 99-year lease, the developers promise to pay the city 4 percent of its gross revenues. So not only will it attract more tourism, it will give back an estimated amount of $2.5 billion to the city in the course of the 99-year lease.
