5 SECRETS FOR FIXING INTERIOR DECORATING DISASTERS

If you have ever had a home, apartment, or even a college dorm room, you have all experienced the enjoyment of decorating your interiors. Interior Designing can be exciting and at times challenging.

If you ever found yourself in an interior-designing catastrophe then this is the blog to read! On my blog we don’t only keep you updated on design trends and the arts and culture of Miami, we are here to help!

Today I am going to share with you some of the best and simple tricks to rescue you from common interior design challenges. Take a look!

1. Worn-down Furniture Woes
When you have had some of your furniture for a while it can begin to look a bit haggard, but do not throw it out! There are easy ways to rescue and restore, such as a fresh coat of paint. Before you repaint your furniture make sure that you remove all of the hardware. Then you want to sandpaper down all surfaces then add your primer. Make sure to use a smaller brush when painting spindles or legs of the furniture. This simple fix can make an old dusty chair look brand new!

2. Warped Flooring
Over time with the many different guests and previous owners of the house, your floors can take a beating from the many decorating changes. Real wood floors need extra protection. If your floors haven’t gotten the proper attention they can get warped from spillage. When wood floors respond to changing temperatures or humidity, warping will occur. A solution to this problem would be filing a floor with latex. Latex floor filler is suitable for gaps up to ¼ inch wide.

3. That Paint Job Just Isn’t Working
You chose you’re your color, added a swatch, painted the wall, and you have a completely different color! This is a common issue with interior decorating novices. The solution is to step away from the paintbrush and look at it with fresh eyes the next day. The color can either grow on you but if it is still not the look you want it is possible to layer a color on top to fix it. If this trick doesn’t do it for you the best suggestion is to paint your walls back to white. Use your colorful home ornamentations or statement wall art to truly stand out and define the room.

4. Ridding Stains For Good
You have finally put a new coat of paint on those walls and you are so happy with the outcome, but then you notice that your carpet has really took a beating after all your hard work. If the paint is still wet on your carpet do not scrub it! Simply blot with a wet paper towel. If the paint is dry, use hot water and a dash of dish detergent. Let this mixture sit for a few minutes to loosen the paint. Once the paint has softened you can use a knife to scrape the paint right off. Continue to add more solution as you scrape. There you have it, paint stains disappear!

INTERIOR DECORATION INSPIRATION OF THE WEEK: PASTELS

The month of April is perfect time for spring inspirations to flutter around your home. This time of year many of you may have been coloring those Easter eggs or enjoying holiday candies. Pastels are surrounding us this month and are always a buzzing trend in fashion and high-end interior design.

Today I am going to share with you how to bring this pastel inspiration inside your home. There are many types of ways you can add these colors and I am going to give you the advice you need to suit your individual home style.

A little can go a long way
Choosing one iconic pastel color for your home will stand out in an effective way. You want to avoid adding too many different shades of pastels so that you do not overload your home with that Easter egg feel.

Robin’s Egg Blue is one classic and timeless color that can be used as a neutral. Add this dash of pastel in your home on a throw pillow or a lampshade for a spectacular affect.

Shop Carefully
We don’t want everyone room in your home to look like a baby’s room so make sure you test out your pastel shades before purchasing. Be weary of the names of colors as they can be misleading.

Make sure to look at multiple variations of your favorite pastel. Some come off a bit grayer and pale while some are more saturated and loud.

Be mindful of your light
Natural light in a room will always depict how a paint color appears on your walls. Often enough if you have west-facing windows the light can bring a redder hue to your walls, while east-facing windows will bring in out the cooler tones.

Try to avoid the corresponding pastels to the direction of the light. Using this pointer will avoid natural light creating any unwanted effects on your pastel walls.

4 SENSATIONS SWEEPING INTERIOR DESIGN THIS SPRING

Luxury fashion and high-end interior design have many aspects in common. When looking at fashion one needs to have a strong sense of design to understand the appeal and how to build an outfit. Just like how you need to know about fashion and design to put together a well outfitted room.

Today I am going to share with you Elle Decor’s top four interior design sensations for this season.

Blue
If you read my blog you know how the color red impacts your interior decorating. We also read that Marsala is Pantone’s color of the year. But lets balance out those deep tones with the other side of the color palette, blue! We are seeing more and more home accessories this year with watery cerulean and noble indigo. Test it out and give your room a refresh.

Metallics
Metallic finishes such as gold, silver, bronze, and pewter, are becoming more and more popular. This trend provides lavish effects and dramatic differences. It is like adding jewelry into a room.

Nature
Using nature as your inspiration is very common in interior design. Some decorate based on the fairy tale look and some prefer to capture natural beauty with branchy plants or exotic woods. Bringing a piece of nature into your home is a true interior design sensation that can be used in different ways.

Americana
There is a huge resurgence of items being manufactured in the USA. There are many new hand crafted, wholesome pieces with authentic American quality that are being produced all over the States. This trend is growing fast, adding one of these collectors’ items in your home is a must this year for a classy yet sensible feel.

INTERIOR DECORATION INSPIRATION OF THE WEEK: FAIRY TALES

There are so many different ways to influence interior design choices for your home. Each inspiration directly reflects the style you choose for a room.

For example if you define your decorating inspiration as urban, you may find yourself having a sleek and refined style. Minimalist artwork and black and white walls would fit this urban scheme in your home.

Today I am going to share with you what you can take away from a fairy tale interior design inspiration! If you see yourself living in a whimsical yet classic environment then this is the blog post for you!

No matter where you live, Florida, New York, or Texas, a fairytale inspiration can transcend your home into something enchanted and charming.

Let the light shine in
Bringing in natural light in a room is important for your home to translate nature and feel pure and warm. You can amplify natural light by painting the walls a pale green or a fair blue. These earthy tones can relate to the trees, sky, and grass. Even a chartreuse tone will bring cheer into the room.

Rose gold and elaborate finishes
To really bring a whimsical character into your home try decorating with embellished headboards and bronzed sconces. Small touches of brassy browns and rose gold’s will bring in majestic flair.

21st century romanticism
If you are living with a man he may not agree with the statement of femininity in your fairy tale inspired home. Compromise is always important when designing as a couple. Bring modern romance into your home with potted plants and flowers. This will bring a rustic touch to the room while still holding the color and beauty of the flower.

HIGH END INTERIOR DESIGN LOOKS FOR LESS

As you know from reading my blog there are so many different techniques for decorating a room. My outlook on interior decorating is that everyone should have the opportunity to bring beauty and flavor into their homes!

Today I am going to share with you some affordable and beautiful ways to create a high-end interior design look in your space.

Try out some of these simple looks for your home today to infuse refinement and style with every glance.

Accessorizing
You don’t always have to spend a fortune on home accessories. Try selecting a few large accessories that accurately fit the style of the room. When choosing accessories think of the rooms color scheme as well as their shape. Over accessorizing any room can leave it looking cluttered and overwhelming. It is best to stick with the few accessories that you love the most.

Creating a focal point
In larger rooms you can establish a focal point with a big and colorful rug. You can also establish a focal point with a grouping of plants, a large art piece, or your fireplace. Creating this centrality in a room will produce stability and peacefulness in the space.

Painting the details
The quick and most efficient way to update your home is by adding a fresh coat of to your banisters, windows trims and even your ceiling. You will be pleasantly surprised to see how much this fix will really stand out. A new coat of paint will make the room look clean cut and proper.

AMERICAN DREAM MALL MAY BE COMING TO MIAMI

Design and Architecture are essential industries that are very prominent in South Florida.

If you have been reading this blog for a while you know that I get excited when I hear about huge new projects coming along to Miami. Currently in Miami there are big talks about bringing the American Dream Mall and Theme Park over to Dade County.

This project will boast tourism and attract more and more people to South Florida. I am excited to share a little more about this with you today!

Real Estate and Luxury Interior Design are two great industries in South Florida that feed off one another. When I hear about projects such as the American Dream Mall I am excited to see where it can go.

Minnesota has the Mall of America, which is a staple to American tourism. Now can you imagine something this big coming to Miami!? Except that the 4 million-square-foot American Dream Miami would be even larger the the Mall of America! This says a lot, being that Minnesota’s Mall of America brings around 40 million visitors per year.

If this proposal passes it would also bring around 25,000 more jobs into South Florida. This is raising a lot of buzz in Miami about what it will bring to community so stay tuned!

Miami-Dade County commissioners are currently in negotiations for this proposal, so keep checking in to see if this project will get the green light!

You can read more about it here.
