THE POWER OF ‘RED’ IN INTERIOR DESIGN

Valentine’s Day is around the corner so I thought that I would share with you what the color of love means for interior design!

Red is the color that represents Valentine’s Day because of the passion and feeling that it evokes. Red has both sentimental and fiery representation.

Now I am going to show you a few fun ways to bring the inspiration of ‘red’ into your space!

Painting the exterior front door of your home or apartment red will give off very warm and welcoming vibes. It will entice visitors and your guests to come inside.

Try painting an accent wall red in your living room to create contrast and lead guests in. A red accent wall can provide a joyful and vibrant backdrop as well as a focal point to any room.

Another way to bring a glimpse of red into your home is through accessories. Try adding an area rug with an interesting red pattern. This will help define a space and introduce a decorative flair.

Last but not least you can bring a flash of red into your home with furniture of course! Add a red high gloss finish to those kitchen chairs, or place a red velvet love seat to your living room. Either way you will be bringing the romanticism and excitement into your home.

Remember spend time with your loved ones on this Valentine’s Day!

TOP 4 INTERIOR DESIGN TRENDS FOR 2015

Today I am going to share with you how to invite these top 4 looks of 2015 into your home.

There are so many different interior design trend forecasts for this year that it can be hard to figure out which ones to look at. That’s why we sorted through them for you so you only have to look at the best!

If you have read my blog you know that Pantone’s Color of the Year is Marsala. Now see how this color combines nicely with the styles below.

  1. Luxe: Add supple velvets, sumptuous upholstery, and smooth silks. Richer tones on walls and plush accessories will bring sophistication and class to your room.
  2. Mixed Metallic: Metallic overall adds a lavish air. Besides the obvious gold and silver, try finding rose gold or copper accessories. These pieces will stand out like jewelry in your home.
  3. Gemstones: Crystals and gemstones are frequently showing up in the fashion and design stratosphere. They can add great texture and visual significance. A balance of sparkle and flair will brighten up any space.
  4. Geometric Shapes: These shapes create a crisp and contemporary look. Many geometric light fixtures and home accents look both edgy and high end. Try to be bold and make a statement with shapes.
