This week in Kansas City, interior design student Cassandra Stanley won the International Interior Design Association’s Design Wars competition for the second year in a row. Virtually unheard of!

Many interior decorators try to give a place the lived-in appearance by simply going around and finding expensive art, knickknacks, and furniture to fill a space. Unfortunately, this all too often creates a feeling of clutter rather than luxury and taste.
The antidote is adopt a policy that in great interior design, form should always follow function.

As the latest winner of HGTV’s reality show “Design Star,” she’s been getting lots of press lately, which she’s been using to spread some really high quality interior design information on everything from picking the right sized rug for a room to using cabinets to brighten up a room.
