HOW GREAT HIGH END INTERIOR DESIGN CAN HELP YOU GET TOP DOLLAR

We spend a lot of time here talking about how to make high end interior design choices that improve your home environment. But how about if you’re planning to sell the home you’ve got?

Believe it or not, that’s when great interior design can come in the most handy. When a real estate market is as competitive as Miami is these days, interior decoration can make all the difference as to who gets the best price.

Freshome has put together a great primer on decorating your home for the sale. It’s a great start to learning about an important topic.

THE SECRET TO HIGH END INTERIOR DESIGN CREATIVITY

Over the course of my career, I’ve found that one of the best ways to spark creativity is to expose yourself to the widest range of influences possible.

This is true in all areas where you need to be creative, but it’s especially important in high end interior design.

So while I always make sure I keep up with the latest interior design trends of the finest homes in Miami (and throughout the world), I also look in places you might not expect.

That’s why an article I recently came across, “20 of The World’s Best Restaurant And Bar Interior Designs” is so helpful. Incorporating just one or two of these creative ideas into your own interior decoration choices could make all the difference in making yours stand out.

MIAMI JUST KEEPS ON GROWING

Every day I wake up exhilarated by how on fire Miami is.

Enter the Miami World Center…one of the biggest and most over-the-top commercial and residential centers right in the heart of Downtown Miami. This place is like going to blow your mind–just wait!

And for an interior designer in Miami, it’s like being a kid in a candy store.

MIAMI INTERIOR DESIGNERS GO WILD OVER BECKHAM NEWS

From the perspective of the 2007 Crash, it couldn’t have seemed more unlikely, but Miami is the hottest real estate market in the country right now…again.

And if you’re an interior designer in Miami or even just someone living here interested in decorating, times couldn’t be more exciting.

Right on the tails of the news about Alejandro Sanz’s multi-million dollar purchase comes even bigger news. English soccer phenomenon David Beckham has decided to move to Miami to try to build a Major League Soccer team in our fair city. As part of that major league step, he’s decided to buy a luxury mansion here.

Anyone who’s a Miami interior designer, real estate and design aficionado, or soccer fan, is on pins and needles waiting to see what this big move does for the look, style, and energy of Miami.

INTERIOR DESIGN: A HISTORICAL PERSPECTIV

A British company has put together a charming illustrated look-back on interior design decade by decade. Even though there are some slight difference between U.K. and U.S. style, there are enough similarities to give you a chuckle or two.

(I certainly remember how things looked in the 1980’s when I decided to go into the high end design business in Miami (think Don Johnson and lots of neon).)

YOU SAY IT’S OUR BIRTHDAY!

It was 30 years ago today that I decided to hang up my shingle as Miami’s newest high end interior design firm.

It’s been a long, crazy, wonderful ride ever since.

It’s been the great adventure of my life to build Interiors by Steven G., and the best part of it has been working with our team of wonderful, talented designers. We’re proud to say that of this past year, we have 2 employees who have been with us for 20 years.

Thank you everyone for making so many design dreams come true!

MIAMI MANSION GOES FOR BIG BUCKS

As a Miami interior designer, I’m always keeping my eye on fantastic luxury real estate that goes on the market.

Today I came across a great one that you should definitely know about.

The Miami Beach mansion of Latin Music sensation Alejandro Sanz is on sale, and it’s only $18 mil. But don’t worry, it’s well worth it– 7,500 square feet, right on the Intercoastal, and designed by the legendary Miami interior designer Wallace Tutt.

You owe it to yourself to check this place out, whether or not there’s a move in your future.

OUR FAVORITE HIGH END INTERIOR DESIGN BLOG INTERVIEWS JILL KARGMAN

We’re feeling lucky this Monday! It usually takes the ladies at Quintessence a little while to put together a new episode of their show “At Home,” but a new episode is available less than a week after the last.

For anyone interested in luxury and design, you’ll want to watch Jill Kargman in action. Helping high end interior design come to life is all about being exposed to the best ideas from the best places, and this New York/Nantucket legend is all about creative ideas. Dig in and enjoy!

MIAMI DESIGNS A NEW BASKETBALL STRATEGY

Everyone in Miami has been biting their nails since LeBron James broke his contract with the Heat and declared free agency after their loss to the San Antonio Spurs in the Finals.

But it’s looking more and more like that’s part of our hometown team’s strategy.

A lot of people are saying we lost as badly as we did because we had no one good enough on the bench. If the King can re-sign with the Heat with a lower salary, it could free up some space under the salary cap for some great new players to help us win it all next year.

(By the way, if it seems weird to you that a high end interior designer like your truly is spending so much timetalking about basketball, then you haven’t learned by now how much I love our Miami Heat.)

Here’s a link to a story that seems to confirm my theory on all this.

MIAMI INTERIOR DESIGN MEETS JAPANESE STYLE

We’re such big fans of incorporating Japanese influence in our interior design choices, that we even had Japanese custom furniture designed for our showroom. Japan and Miami may be far apart but that’s exactly what makes it all work together. It’s only by looking outside your own immediate frame of reference that true creativity and beauty bloom.

If you’d like to start incorporating some East Asian influence into your South Florida interior design choices, Working Home Guide has just put out an extremely helpful style guide to Japanese design.
