A HIGH END INTERIOR SHOW ENTERS ITS SECOND YEAR

Back at the beginning of 2014, I had an idea. There are so many people out there interested in big end interior design but never get to see how the process really happens. Sure, there are great home improvements shows on HDTV and the like, but those are more for the Do-It-Yourselfers.

What I decided I wanted to do was create a series showing people how the most luxurious high end interior design and decoration projects come to life.

The result was DesignTV with Steven G.

As we enter the show’s second year, it’s become more than I ever could have hoped. Since we first started, We’ve taken you through the process from the warehouse to the showroom to the finishing touches. We’ve brought you interviews with some of the high end real estate and design world’s most prominent people. And so much more.

So as we embark on the second year of our show, I wanted to take the time to thank all of you for watching and making it happen.

AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT

We spend a lot of time here talking about the details of luxury interior design. Patterns.Materials. Colors. Furniture.

And so on.

With all that attention to the separate parts, it can sometimes become easy to forget about the whole.

It comes down to this: A home is a place where memories happen. If your interior decoration choices help make those memories warmer, you’ve succeeded.

So if you’re spending the holidays at home this year, make sure to kiss the ones you love and tuck them in tight.

Merry Christmas!

Happy Chanukah!

Happy Holidays!

THE NEW FACE OF LUXURY INTERIOR DESIGN…PORCELAIN

In a long ago episode of DesignTV with Steven G., we took you to our showroom to show you how porcelain has clawed its way back to be the hottest thing in luxury interior design.

Now it’s time to check out an example of why we’re so enthusiastic about it.

5 HIGH END INTERIOR DESIGN TRENDS TO LOOK OUT FOR

I’m always amazed by how interior design trends that were considered out of date just 5 years earlier always come back to be considered more chic than ever, even among the high end set.

While I’m truly a believer that when it comes to decorating your home, you’ve got to listen to yourself first, the fact is that personal tastes often evolve. And a lot of times the change in what you like is subtly influenced by what’s going on in the world-at-large.

So here’s what Zillo is predicting will be the 5 hot new trends in interior design in the upcoming year…

  1. Gold Fixtures
  2. Cowhide
  3. Wallpaper
  4. Blue Accent Colors
  5. Mid-Century Elements

HOW A HIGH END INTERIOR DESIGN PROJECT WRAPS UP – PART 2

In this episode of DesignTV With Steven G., we continue the walk through of a luxury condo in Miami. (Go here to see Part 1.) Watch us put on the finishing touches to make this interior design project complete.

5 MIAMI ART EXHIBITS TO INSPIRE INTERIOR DESIGN

Even though Art Basel is over, there’s no reason for Miamians to stop using art as interior design inspiration. Miami is booming with various galleries and design studios that go all year round.

Check out these 5 new art shows. I guarantee you’ll come out full of new ways to decorate your space.

  1. To Have and To Hold: 50 Years of Marriage and Collecting Contemporary Art” from the Rubell Family Collection
  2. One Way: Peter Marino at the Bass Museum of Art
  3. Beatriz Milhazes: Jardim Botanico at the Perez Art Museum Miami
  4. Pedro Reyes’s “Sanatorium” at the Institute of Contemporary Art Miami
  5. “Myth and Machine: The First World War in Visual Culture” at the Wolfsonian-Florida International University

MIAMI’S ART BASEL WAS EVERYWHERE

By this point, Miami’s Art Basel has become known all over as one of the most prominent art festivals in the world. But if you’re not in Miami, it’s tempting to think of the fair as only the main exhibit with its famous art pieces and household name artists.

Those of us from Miami know different.

While interior designers and decorators love myself love to point people to the million dollar plus artwork at Art Basel proper (and sometimes buy them for themselves), the real treasures are often found at the satellite shows.

It’s by combing the galleries and exhibits off the beaten track that you can find the work that truly reflects your personality.

Sure, Art Basel is over for this year. That said, there’s still a valuable lesson here. When it comes to interior design, following the road less taken is more often than not the path to ending up with a home that makes people’s mouths drop.

THE FINAL STAGES OF A HIGH END INTERIOR DESIGN PROJECT

By now we’ve seen about how a high end interior design project gets started and what it looks like when it’s finished. Now it’s time to look at what a project looks like when all the interior decoration is wrapping up and the new owners are close to moving in.

Check it out…

THIS YEAR’S ART BASEL IS THE BIGGEST EVE

It’s my favorite time of the year!

No, I’m not talking about the holidays (although those aren’t bad either). This is the weekend when Miami takes over the world.

Art Basel is here, and the extravaganza just keeps getting better.

As you know, Basel is often a chance for me to indulge my love of art, both for my own collection and for our high end interior design clients who want to use their homes to express their exquisite taste.

This year the Fair is offering $3 billion in art…the biggest ever.

If you see me there, definitely come over and say hi!

INTERIOR DESIGN ACROSS THE POND

It’s official…interior design is hotter than ever! And not just in Miami.

One of the most popular new TV shows in the UK is The Great British Interior Design Challenge, and it is truly fantastic!

The show depicts amateur interior designers traveling across Britain, sampling different locations and styles of architecture, and then competing to improve what they find.

Not only is it a smorgasbord of different looks for any true fan of interior design…it’s great reality TV.
